Seattle has been criticized for its fashion trends or lack thereof. However, with the rise in diversity in the last ten years, we are witnessing a shift! I see a bright future in Seattle’s new edge fashion sense, with influences from countries all over the world. We saw a blend of cultural diversity and technological innovation yeah, that’s right FASHION! If you don’t believe me, look for yourself.
I had the pleasure of attending Columbia Tower Club’s Fashion Lab Tech event this month. Various innovative designers presented sustainable work and other designs that promote the reduction of waste produced by major shopping trends. We learned about renting fabulous dresses, custom fitting via technology, making shopping for jeans easier, and much more. Not only is Seattle rising in fabulosity, but they are making a difference in the most important piece of life, sustainability.
Oceans are being cleaned, and the collected material is being reproduced into fashion garments. Recycled fabrics are being brought back to life through recycled tailoring and Seattleites are making this nerdy life look cool. I can’t wait to see what else will come from these talented designers.
Columbia Tower Club’s Linda Lowry lead the event, and I have never seen such a good turnout for our fashion week event. There is no doubt in my mind that people in Seattle are hungry for fashion, and now is the time to create designers. Not only do we want to save the world in the Pacific Northwest, but we want to look good while doing so! Dress us! We have all heights, shapes, and ethnicities in this great city, from petite’s like me to all the other beautiful types of women. We can’t wait to show off your fabulous work!
It was refreshing to see such a colorful show with models of all heights and measurements. Thank you, designers, you shined!
