Who Needs a Jersey Campaign To Save The Rainforest [petite models]

This week’s Bella Petite Hour radio show hosts the “Who Needs a Jersey” promotional campaign, created by Eddie Drummond of the NFL.  The campaign message for  “Who Needs a Jersey” is that you don’t need to be a professional athlete to make a positive difference in the world.

I recently had the opportunity to begin working with Eddie Drummond on his campaign.  As Drummond explains, “Who Needs a Jersey” will launch with a nationwide tour that allows models and athletes to make a difference in the lives of many people. Essentially, the “Who Needs a Jersey” program is an outreach campaign that will leverage America’s love for athletes and beautiful women, to bring awareness to causes focused on helping others and our environment!

In an effort to establish and execute positive, life-changing goals, we invited Wilda Spalding to shape the focus and message of the cause.  Wilda is recognized as a distinguished humanitarian,  having served honorably on the United Nations, winning multiple humanitarian awards on an international level, and even being recognized as a Nobel Peace Prize nominee!  She also happens to be the great granddaughter of the creator of Spalding Sports, so the athletic connection was a natural fit.  Spalding brought to our attention the urgent crisis that we are facing to preserve critical planetary and medically essential resources in the Amazon Rainforest.

With this focus in mind, we immediately jumped on board and merged our campaigns.  Wilda introduced us to the work Olivia Newton John and John Easterling are doing to benefit the rainforest through their Amazon Herb Company, and they too have joined as sponsors of the campaign.

The campaign will be held in twenty NFL cities for two days in each locale.  On the first day we’ll focus on “Amazon Outreach,”  by visiting schools, YMCA’s and hospitals to inform communities about what’s happening in the Amazon, why it matters, and how we can get involved to make a difference!

On the second day of the tour we will hold model castings and select several models for the “Who Needs a Jersey” calendar.   The winning models will appear with their local professional athletes in the calendar.

For prospective models, the casting call will consist of a test shoot, interview, and submission of an essay describing why you believe you will best represent the WNAJ campaign. The models will not be judged on looks alone.  We are looking for ladies who are active in their communities and doing more than taking pretty pictures!

Selected models will be an official “Who Needs a Jersey” representative for their hometown, which includes NFL promotional appearances and a full month spread in the WNAJ calendar.  The models’ promotional gifts include the natural skin care renewal system, “Lluvia,” made from sustainably-harvested botanicals from the Amazon rainforest.  The model castings are an excellent opportunity to get real work as a model, while becoming involved with a worthwhile cause.

The WNAJ interactive website is soon to be released with event videos and pictures, online model submissions, tour dates/cities, and important Amazon rainforest news.  The official tour dates and city announcements for the “Who Needs a Jersey” events will be held on October 10th, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. I encourage Bella Petite ladies to take part and take note as we’ll be covering it all along the way!
