New Year and New Look For Petite Women

What better way to kick off the New Year than with a brand new look? A pixie cut and oversized coat is the perfect petite winter trend to start 2014 in style. Short hairstyles have been trending this past fall season, and our personal favorite is the pixie cut. Though relatively restrictive when it comes to wearing it in different styles, adding a bright solid color like petite actress Michelle Williams (5’2″) did to her cut will accentuate the hairstyle and keep it interesting and edgy. Or you can maintain a delicate and feminine look with the tapered temple that comes with this hairstyle.

To pair with your new haircut is the smash-hit season trend, the oversized coat. We love it because it’s big, bold and warm. Not only that, but it can be worn in so many different ways.

However, the struggle with over-sized coats for petite women is that you can end up looking like you’re drowning in the coat. This can be avoided making sure your coat hits approximately 0.5-2 inches off your shoulder, and to reduce the drowning effect you can fold over your sleeves.

As a petite woman you should opt for a mid-thigh or shorter oversized coat length like petite fashionista Mary-

Kate Olsen’s (5’0″). This will elongate your legs and make you look taller.

To make your coat really stand out, wear a solid color beneath it and belt it to give it some shape.

The New Year is all about taking chances and experimenting, so try out a different look and transform into a new you!
