How to Create a Modeling Portfolio: Tips For Petite Models

I started to promote my portfolio on internet sites for models and photographers.   On such sites, the challenge is to catch the eye of the best photographers possible, but it will not happen over night.  You may have to start with pictures that your friends take of you.   Be selective, because your best pictures will offer you a greater chance to work with a quality photographer who may be willing to test shoot with you on a time for print (TFP) basis.

If you don’t want to wait to be noticed by a photographer to be offered (TFP), I suggest that you hire a photographer that shoots for agencies. You can contact an agency and obtain a listing for their recommended photographers.

You will need to get at least five different looks in your portfolio to get started and to create a composite card to market yourself.

Once I developed a strong portfolio, I was ready to go after agency representation and I applied for the Bella Petite Model Search.  I am now represented by Ford Models (Arizona) and I am a Bella Petite Model Cover Girl.  It is important to recognize what type of work is available for you, and pursue those opportunities.

Your best chance to become a petite model is to network, participate in events without height requirements and model searches specifically for petite models.
